Why I built this

SmartSendBox is not a software company’s product idea. It is a system built by someone running a business, to solve their own biggest problem.

SmartSendBox did not start as a software company’s product idea. It started because someone running a business had the same problem every month and could not find a tool that solved it.

The problem came first

I run a printing business. The product was good, the price was competitive, delivery was on time — and none of that mattered, because not enough people knew we existed. Every month came down to the same question: how do we reach companies that have never heard of us?

I tried what everyone tries. Bought a list — most of the addresses were dead and the rest never replied. Signed up for bulk email tools — every one of them opened with “upload your list”, which is exactly the part I did not have. Hired someone to build lists by hand; it worked, slowly, and stopped the moment they left.

So I built it for myself

The first version was a script. It searched an industry and a city, pulled company websites, found the contact address on each one, and sent a short email from my own domain. It was ugly and it broke often. But it worked: replies started coming in from firms that had never heard of us.

Then I made the mistakes you make when nobody has told you the rules. I sent too much on day one and burnt a mailbox. I sent without SPF and DKIM and everything landed in spam. I mailed the same company twice because nothing checked for duplicates. Every fix in this product comes from one of those days.

Then other people asked for it

I set it up for a few businesses around me — a packaging manufacturer, a machinery supplier, a technical service company. Different industries, and the same sentence from all of them: *“the product is good, but I cannot reach anyone.”*

When their campaigns started producing replies too, it stopped being my private workaround. There was a real problem, a repeatable answer to it, and no tool on the market that closed the gap — because every one of them started where the hard part ends.

What we deliberately do not do

  • We do not sell lists. Contacts we find belong to the customer they were found for, and they never enter another customer’s campaign.
  • We do not invent numbers. No fabricated open rates, no invented case studies. If we cannot measure something, we leave it out of the dashboard.
  • We do not send from our own domain. Mail leaves from yours, so the sending reputation accrues to you — and stays with you if you leave.
  • We do not ignore an opt-out. An address that unsubscribes is recorded permanently and never returns to any list.

Still built by someone who uses it

The system runs on my own business every day. When something breaks I see it in my own inbox before a customer reports it — and when a feature turns out to be useless, I am the first to delete it. Software built by people who never use it drifts away from the problem it was made for.
